I think its important to understand what is holding us back from getting our finished tops quilted and used. I have the top 4 reasons and ways to handle them on my video today!
When you purchase my machine quilting book you receive access to exclusive video clips about several techniques. I wanted to do these 2 videos to show you how I think about the design while using my walking foot to quilt.
I did 2 exclusive videos so you can see my process.
In Video #1 you see how I quilted the center red medallion area of this panel.
This is with my walking foot.
I'm turning the panel and following the designs to outline them.
In Video #2 you learn why I trimmed the outer edge, how i did the rest of the design area and the light border.
A closeup of the quilting in this area with my walking foot.
My binding is cut on the bias since we have a circle. Using my 50 wt Aurifil thread I was able to match the red and i did a straight line stiched binding to complement this table mat. I felt a blanket stitch would have competed with the lines printed on the edge of the panel. I like those so left them. But on this panel you could have trimmed them away if you preferred that.
Fits so nicely on my round table, now I need some pretty red plates!

SEW excited to be kicking off my week in the Baby Lock 'Love of Sewing' challenge! I have a yummy free quilt pattern for you ... let me tell you about it the project.
Each of the 12 designers is showing you a different feature on the Baby Lock Destiny II.
Since I quilt, I'm showcasing quilting with the walking foot. And I've designed a fast and easy quilt for you so that you can use your walking foot to quilt it! In my 2nd video I'll be showing you how easy it is to install and use the Digital Dual feed is on my Destiny II.
Every designer in the challenge is sharing our 'first moments' when the new Destiny II arrived at our studios... Watch mine!
Now... I want you to make a quilt top!
My project uses part of a jelly roll + fabric to set between the coin strips.
You can use strips from the jelly roll as sashing to make scrappy sashing, or purchase fabric like I did for mine. The supply list and quilt directions are in the PDF pattern I wrote for you.
This will not use the full jelly roll but I wanted the variety that it gave me, plus i had this on hand. BONUS right! I bet you have a jelly roll sitting around. You can squeeze quite a few more coins out of what is left and make a slightly smaller one or use the extra's for my Solstice Quilt Challenge (going on HERE)
My jelly roll & sashing is Bee Creative from Moda. It has been out awhile but I spotted some HERE. You can also use Deb's follow up line for a similar look called 'Bee Inspired" from HERE.
