***2021 - FREE Old School Block of the Month ***
Kim Lapacek of Persimmon Dreams invited me to be one of the designers for her Old School BOM (Block of the Month)
This is my friend Nancy's Scott's month, I love her classic star block. She set it up with as an album style block for collecting signatures in the middle.
What is fun about this sew along is finding new ways to do things. Nancy makes flying geese units with a method I have not done for awhile. I loved doing it again! Below are photos to show you what I did

***My Block ***
The flying geese method Nancy uses will not have waste. Just a little trimming if needed.
I also had fun using the scraps to make the 6" finished Churn dash! I am going to make one each month and use a table runner, or maybe in the border of the quilt.
***My Block making tips ***
This is the background
You might want to starch the fabric prior to cutting the square as it does have bias.
I would starch the star point fabric as well.
Position the floral triangle on the background with the bottom edges even
Measure the block and if needed, trim.
BIG TIP, to trim place the diagonal ON THE SEAM or you will chop off your points
You should only need to trim just a teeny bit, if anything
Sew with the Flying geese unit on top so you can see the intersection
Triple check placement before sewing
