Happy New Year!!!!!!! On the first of the year I do things I want to be doing all year. Like quilting, exercising, travel(hopefully by end of 2021), eating great food, visiting family and living my Word of the year.
And to make this fun, I have a giveaway at the end!
** 2020 - holy moley I'm glad that's done! **
On this Happy New Year's Day, January 1, 2021, I'm thrilled to turnover the calendar. I know nothing actually changes. Covid is not gone, my wrists are not healed 100%, but mentally I get a fresh start.
On June 20th 2020 I was walking where I always walked, tripped on an uneven sidewalk, breaking both my wrists and some extra bones. 10 days later I had surgery to put in pins and plates and have carpel tunnel done at the same time (now that's over with too!)
It was a rough 5 months that followed. By December I started to feel more myself. And I can now do a lot of things.
But my wrists still ache every day, I still can't lift heavier things, I still can't bend 2 fingers on my left hand and my wrists are still both swollen. I may have to have my rings all remade.
Gregg and I want to thank you again and again for the love and support. In January or February I'll do a post about what it's like to survive breaking both your wrists. (I'm sure it will be a best seller!) Bonus I'll give you some pointers on doing it during a pandemic. (ugh)

Well imagine that:
- me with casts
- with bandages
- a 40th wedding anniversary where I had both Casts and Bandages.
- And my sweet bee zippy pouch got lots of love, thank you! (find here )
This is certainly not what I had hoped for, but it is what I got.
2021 please be kinder to me.

** My Word of Year 2021 **
This is my 16th year of having a word and goals...16 years.. I really can't believe it! It started on a whim, then just seemed to continue. Some years the word really resonates with me. Other years, not so much, but that's ok.
How do I come up with a word?
Sometimes I use these questions
- What do I hope will happen in 2020?
- What dreams do I want to nurture?
- What qualities do I want to develop?
- What does my heart need?
A word might pop up when thinking about those things. Other times, like this year, I had a few words and then 'Do' kept coming back to me. I knew Yoda's quote, and when 'doing' a search to verify it, I found this great photo and other wonderful Star Wars quotes at https://thesupermomlife.com/inspirational-star-wars-quotes/ go check them out, they are awesome!
How I plan to keep my word front and center
- Do
- I will pick at least one thing that I WILL 'Do' each month. And it won't be something I normally do, that would be too easy right? That is a big thing to state out loud.
- Recharging
- 2020 was a year of waiting around. Waiting for covid to end (spoiler.. it didn't ). Waiting for my wrists to heal (spoiler.. they are much better but not 100%). Waiting, waiting waiting. The word 'Do' mean Action, It means control, It means making a decision and making it happen. Do or Do not. There is no Try.
- Reflect Each Month
- I'm going to write an article each month to reflect on my word on the first Friday of the month. I have rarely kept this goal of writing about it each month, but this year I will 'Do it'!
You can join me here at my website, Facebook group, and here are my previous words if you are interested! And ENTER YOUR EMAIL to get a notice of each new article
For January here are my top things to 'Do':
- Make Sourdough bread - starter was underway Christmas Day
- Document at least 20 quilts each month from my inventory
- Do Yoga every day - Join me in Jan at https://www.youtube.com/user/yogawithadriene
- Walk every day that I can
- Work on at least 2 UFOs each month
Next month I'll report back on this progress and make a new 'Do' List
