***The Elephant Stomp Assignment #1***

Watch my video, this week figure out your approach to making the Elephant quilt.

Elephants are good luck, trunks up or trunks down!

• An elephant figurine with the trunk in an upward direction, signifies fortune and success.
• An elephant figurine with the trunk in an downward direction, stores luck and energy. It is a symbol of wisdom and knowledge allowing you to easily overcome various tasks and obstacles. To stay grounded at work or to reserve strength and vitality at home.

My tips from my video:

• Make a test block
• Look at directional fabric to see how it affects your elephant block
• Decide if you are going to sew in units. like all the ear tops with background fabric. All the trunk units. 
• Decide if you are going to cut everything then sew, or maybe cut the backgrounds, then sew a block or 2 at time.

****My First Christmas ***

This is my first Christmas with my beautiful mom, I was one month old. 

I sent this photo over to mom today! She said it was like having a babydoll with lots of clothing. I was the first grand child and the first girl on my dad's side, I was a wee bit spoiled.

I'm not sure why i had shorts on for Christmas, guess it was warm at my Great Grandmother's home!

Note the granny square crocheted afghan, she made lots of those and I have one.

As we embark on our 8th Annual Charity Quilt we continue to be amazed by the generosity of this sewing community and inspired by the stories of the children who have been granted life-changing Wishes. The way the fundraiser works is that we offer the Serendipity patterns as FREE downloads during the event for a suggested donation of $5 each to our Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas campaign. Or feel free to make a larger, one-time donation of $50. No amount is too small and every bit counts. We’ll start releasing the seven patterns that make up this quilt on February 1, 2021. Every two weeks we will publish a new pattern here on the blog.

"I have good Christmas memories of when we lived in Germany for four years, while my husband was stationed there. We enjoyed going to the Christmas markets which had everything from prune people to chestnuts roasting on open fires. We drank gluwine, a hot spiced wine, and ate brautwurst. It just seemed magical. Our youngest daughter insisted that she needed a prune lady, yes a doll make out of prunes and walnuts. It was a wonderful time for our family, even though we were miles from home those four years."
