Our March Aurifil Designer of the Month is modern quiltmaker Carole Lyles Shaw. This is her block above done is a really cool fusible applique method.

Each month the Aurifl color Builder box is named the green mountains of Dolomite.
Each designer is creating a block based on something about this thread collection. The Aurifil blocks are exciting and unique. At the end of the year I create a layout.
I also make the blocks in totally different fabrics, and have some tips each month for you on construction, let's continue!

*** Pattern prep ***
- Verify your print 1" square IS 1", if it is not your shapes will not be the correct size
- I get all the pages out so I can keep track
- This is a collage style of working. So I'm fusing heat n bond to the back side of the fabric.
- Not tracing the shapes first
*** Cutting Tips ***
- I'm following Carole's directions to cut from the front side
- I use my OLFA ruler and rotary cutter for accuracy
- Clip the pattern and template together with a wonderclip

- Place in position on the design board
- Keep the pattern handy

*** Fabric Fusing ***
- This is very forgiving, position so it looks nice
- You do not have to have it exact, it's nature!
*** Applique stitches ***
- I blanket stitched on both pieces sometimes, other times just on the top one. Have fun with it!
- I am using the blanket stitch on my Baby Lock Solaris
