Happy New Year!!!!!!! On the first of the year I do things I want to be doing all year. Like quilting, exercising, travel, eating great food, visiting family and living my Word of the year.
And to make this fun, I have a giveaway at the end!
** 2010 to 2019 **
On this Happy New Year's Day, January 1, 2020 I've got
- A one picture a year look back
- A one picture a month from Instagram
- My Word of the year
- A fun new 'Adventure'. I love starting something new and I hope you'll join me!
- And at the END.. a giveaway
Above is a photo a year.. it was SO hard to pick just ONE photo from each year 2010 to 2019!
I spent a whole day looking at the photos from the last 10 years.. my observations
- We traveled a LOT
- I had some amazing trips, like teaching in South Africa
- I did things I'd forgotten about like paint that chair!
- Created some incredible memories, like my Dad's 80th birthday at the beach, and taking photos with my grandfather's brownie then Gregg developed them.
- Some sadness, as in 10 yrs it will happen. Losing my wonderful father-in-law at the beginning of the decade and my Mother-in-law this August
- And I drank a LOT of coffee
** Did I Change any? **
I had fun selecting a photo a year (minus this year)
- From the trade show
- to the mountains
- to the city of San Juan
- and many places in between Gregg and I traveled the last 10 yrs
** Top 9 photos of 2019 on Instagram **
There is a website that will look at your top 9 'liked' photos from Instagram and create this collage
- You seem to really like purple tulips on a polka dot background.
- The featherweight was given to me by Madge (my MIL) a bit earlier this year, a trued treasure
- I need to make a 'squares' quilt to hang permanently in my studio
- and you have truly loved my 'Oh My Stars' Quilt pattern!
** My Word of Year 2020 **
This is my 15th year of having a word and goals...15 years.. i really can't believe it! It started on a whim, then just seemed to continue. Some years the word really resonates with me. Other years, like last year, I didn't focus on it at all.
How do I come up with a word?
Sometimes I use these questions
- What do I hope will happen in 2020?
- What dreams do I want to nurture?
- What qualities do I want to develop?
- What does my heart need?
A word might pop up when thinking about those things.Other times, like this year, I had one word, Peace, which was not 'it'. Then Purpose popped up in a word game. And from there I thought about being Intentional.
How I plan to keep my word front and center
- Intentional
- looking at things I want to accomplish and work those goals with Intention is the obvious way. But I'm mulling over how to really use this word in 2020. So I will have to write again soon about my word to document it!
- On Recharging
- Intentionally make time to recharge my batteries. Make it a priority. I did this in December by creating a calendar page and crossing off what I did.
- Reflect Each Month
- I'm going to write an article each month to reflect on my word. I have rarely kept this goal of writing about it each month, but this year I will!
