Time to sew the gorgeous BIG Trees in my 'Drive Down Bonnie Lane' sew along using Coach House Designs pattern that Barb created just for my fabric, it's so darling!

- My Table runner kit
Patterns
*** How we'll sew the rows ***
- The pattern is set up to sew in rows.
- We'll do the Trees before the clothes line so everyone can get into fusible applique by machine more. After that we'll stick with the order of the pattern
- You have the pattern so you can work ahead if you like, you do not have to wait for me
Schedule - after this post the schedule can be found at my project Page so I don't have to keep repeating it
*** Tree Parts ***
For our Trees, following are 3 videos and photos for doing applique
- Background - NOTE on the small rectangles you need 4 not 2 as the pattern might have. My early copy had 2.
- Tree trunk which is pieced
- 2 trees
USEFUL Items:
- My Teach me to Applique Book is a GREAT Companion to this sew along
- So is my Box of Perfect Neutral thread for piecing
- My Favorite Scissors If they are sold out CLICK HERE
- Heat n Bond Lite
*** Tracing applique and fusing it ***
- This is a video I did in 2013 that walks through the steps. Great to use with my book
- Following this video are some photos for the tree, my book has more photo
My Favorite Scissors (not the ones in the video, they were discontinued years ago)
- Because the trees do not fit on one piece of pattern pattern, we simply tape the 2 parts together
- Fold ONE side on the line
- Place the folded on over top of the other side
- Tape (I use this cute tape that can be peeled of paper)
- Trace with a pen
- Follow what I did in the video to cut out the inside
- Watch next video for using down the large shapes
*** Pressing large shapes ***
- This my process for large shapes
- I love the Oliso iron as I can keep it horizontal the entire I'm doing applique. That is less stress on my arm

*** Machine Applique ***
- This video shows the steps I used to do fusible applique by machine
- My Applique book has tips too!
*** What the tip of the Tree Looks like ***
- Front on the left
- Back on the right
- I used this Aurifil Thread, 50 wt, Fern color
*** What's Next ***
- You now have the stars and the Trees.
- Next assignment is Dec 27.
- If you want to continue to trace and fuse your applique work on the dresses
- If you want to start piecing the house in the top row, go for it!
