*** My Blocks ***
These were both super fun blocks from the Perfect 5 book! On the left is the Fortune Cookie that uses 5 charm packs for the quilt. The block on the right is the Frosted cookie using 4 charm packs, i really want to make this one! Remember a Layer cake is 4 charm packs if you have one of those.
Scroll down for tip on making an extra star block & then my full quilt made with the book's Snickerdoodle pattern if you missed it last week.
- I'm making one of each block from the bonus sampler that goes along with the Perfect 5 book. The sampler sheet & photo are at the end.
- I'm using a Pepper & Flax Jolly bar cut in half- there are not that many of these so be sure to get one!
- and the background is my charcoal from Bonnie Lane Fabric
- you can see the other designers at the Fat Quarter Shop.. HERE
*** Make a Bonus star Block ***
- I used the sew and flip extra cut off triangles from the Frosted cooking block.
- Sew the bonus triangles for half square triangles.
- Trim each HST unit to 2" - you will have 8 star points.
- Cut 4 charcoal squares 2" x 2" for the corners
- Cut 1 center square 3.5" x 3.5"
- Sew the Star block
- UnFinished size of the star is 6.5" x 6.5"
*** The Fabric for my Snickerdoodle Quilt ***
- I used Crescent charm packs and Essential dots for the background
To Make Like mine
- Cresent Line- 3 charm packs
- Essential dot with Gray and Yellow - 2 5/8 yd
- Binding - 5/8 yd - what I used is no longer available, but this gives the same look
- Backing - 3 3/4 yd
- I love the fan quilting!
*** Backing***
- Let me tell you a secret. Years ago I didn't care what was on the back of my quilts. Often it has nothing to do with the front fabric.
- Now.. I really want to back each quilt with matching fabric. .. so I did!
*** Binding ***
- Purple binding just makes this, don't you think so?
*** All Together ***
- I finally could put them all up on the wall, LOVE them!
- This should make a nice lap quilt. I will need to draft a setting soon
