This has been so FUN to do as a sew along! and some of you have finished up already. I sent my top off to the Fat Quarter shop and Kimberly had it on her video.  Now it's back and will go in my stack to have quilted. • Preparing 2020 Challenges
• And most likely.. working with Gregg to repaint the living room, dining room, halls, stairway. I think that might exhaust us and we'll do bedroom and offices on round #2

Are you a Birthday Cake or more of a Pie Person?

Cake or Pie.. Pie or cake... and on your birthday does it have to be cake? 

I've been a Birthday cake person most of my life but you know, I really love cherry pie!  

So this year.. I'm having pie today instead of cake. Anyone else have something beside cake on your birthday?

When you plan to give someone special a quilt do you tell them in advance?

This November we took a trip down to Florida to visit my family. My mom flew in on her way to Greece and we all stayed with my brother and his family.  Mom turns 80 in January so we were very excited to celebrate her birthday early together.

I named my fabric line Bonnie Lane for my mom and I surprised her with the sew along quilt I did in Bonnie lane!  She loved it! 

We had to mail it to her because she was not going to take it on her trip and has it now at her home in Montana

For years people would say mom and I looked like sisters.

I hope I look this great when I'm 80!

Some years my birthday falls on Thanksgiving (looking at you 2021!).  The last few years I have taken time to think about the things I'm grateful for on my birthday.

This year I'm so grateful for 

• My family: Gregg, all my parents, brothers, brother-in-laws and all their family
• My wonderful friends who are my rock
• Good health, I can do better, but it's pretty good
• A wonderful neighborhood that I've lived in for over 30 years
• and all my online friends. Daily you lift me up and you inspired me to do my best.. I love you!!

*** How we'll sew the rows ***

• The pattern is set up to sew in rows.
• We'll do the Trees before the clothes line so everyone can get into fusible applique by machine more. After that we'll stick with the order of the pattern
• You have the pattern so you can work ahead if you like, you do not have to wait for me

*** Pattern Reading Tips ***

Use the fabric guide page 23 with the cutting directions. This will let you know for sure which fabric to cut. Put your own swatches over the photos if not using my fabric. 

For our Large Stars

• For the 3 large stars on Page 1 Section 1 - Just cut the first set of fabrics #3 for the stars background
• Cut the body of the stars from fabric 11, 12 and also from fabric 15 on page Page 7 Section 7 (the car). 
• We are making all 3 stars now. 
• I use a highlighter to mark each item I've cut so I know it's done.  

*** Sew And Flip the Large Stars ***

• Draw a diagonal line on the back of the star point squares
• Sew on the line
• Flip to test placement
• trim away

• Repeat for the other side of the flying geese
• You are making 4 of these for each star 

• Make 3 Super cute stars!!
• Since you have the pattern if you want to keep making units go for it!
• I will be doing the Tree block next with a video. 
• You could start tracing all the applique shapes onto heat & bond lite to get ahead.

*** Sew Glow Row #3 ***

Thank you for joining my 'Glow' Sew along using my Bonnie Lane fabric!  We had lunch in our down town and took some photos at the old Train Station, it's so darn cute! This old part of down town is only a few blocks and really darling. There is a farmer's market on Thursday in the summer and loads of other event. The rail road track was turned into a trail many years ago so you'll always find people walking and biking. 

For this 3rd week we'll make row #3. Next week we'll have no Bonnie Lane post so we can all enjoy Thanksgiving!
