The 'Perfect 5' is a wonderful new book with 16 quilt patterns that use charm packs... thus the '5'! Charm packs are 5" squares.
The book has
- All the quilts named a cookie, you had me at this one!
- 4 quilt patterns using just 1 charm pack... perfect right? For that 'one pack' you bought.
- 4 that use 2 packs - this is the same as a jolly bar
- 4 using 3 charm packs
- and 4 quilt patterns using 4 charm packs, which is the same as a layer cake!
Details:
- From Oct 9 to Dec 4 I'm sewing along using the quilt blocks in the book to do a version of the Sampler above that the Fat Quarter Shop is doing
- Once a week you'll make the assigned number of blocks for the sampler.
- DOWNLOAD the Sampler supply list below and the TIP SHEET each week that goes with your book.
- My featured quilt is the Snickerdoodle quilt from the book, hit me up with your best Snickerdoodle cookie recipes in the comments!
- At the end is a list of all the other designers sewing along and the week of their featured quilt! The Fat Quarter shop does such a great job with these sew alongs.
- Share your blocks at the photo party at the end!

- And there is a great companion ruler. I love that it's got '3/4' written on it.
*** My Blocks ***
I decided to use the Pepper & Flax Jolly bar + my charcoal Bonnie Lane Fabric for the sampler!
- A jolly bar can be cut in half to make 2 charm packs.
- I am not making the full sampler quilt above. If I was I'd need about 50 squares. So i could either buy 2 jolly bars, or cut from my stash to get the required number of blocks for the sampler. As of today, I'm just making ONE of each unit for the sampler and I'll create a smaller setting for them.
