*** VIDEO Lesson ***
I am using this 100% cotton batting from the Fat Quarter shop's Happy Cloud brand. I LOVE it because it's thin and drapes. I love battings that will hang nicely. Once I wash this it will be amazing to cuddle with. I'm giving the Bonnie Lane fabric version to my mom.
- Happy Cloud Batting - the one I'm using
- ORDER 505 Spray
- Bonnie Lane fabric
- Sewing with My Aurifil Thread.
- the Solid KIT which is gorgeous!
- And another with SOMETHING BLUE
*** My Quilting ***
- First I did a grid to quilt the sashing 1/8" from the block to lock the quilt sandwich in place.
- For quilting I selected the 'wave' stitch. You'll find it on many of your Baby lock machines, including the Jubilant
- I used the walking foot for the stitch
- Simple across the quilt from one side to the other
The reasons I love this stitch
- This is VERY easy, anyone can do it.
- you do not need to keep focused as you quilt to keep track of tension like you do for Freemotion. You just sew lines
- To me, it's softer in the final quilt than a straight stitch is
*** My Machine Binding Tips ***
- For this technique I reverse how I sew the binding. SEE my picture Tutorial HERE
- My video is stitching on the line
*** Straight Stitch Binding ***
- I went with a straight stitch to secure the binding on the front
- You can see above how it looks on the front and the back
- I used the same thread color i used for quilting
- Usually I will use my blanket stitch, but there are 2 reasons I did it this way
- To show you what it looks like
- And to let you know that it is SO easy anyone can do this and be successful! Try it!
*** The Corner ***
- Normally I will hand stitched the 4 mitered corners closed, but for this lesson I wanted to show you what it looks like done by machine.
- I rotate and sew up to the corner.
- The rotate and sew back down
- Depending on your machine it might get stuck on that bulk. My Babylock machine don't but just to let you know there is a lot of bulk. So do a tes

Tools I recommend:
- OLFA TOOLS, there is a combo of the True Blue mat and ruler! Also check out the folding mat, they work SO well if you want it for travel or have space issues
- 44% OFF - ON SALE The Jubilant it is a really great price and you might get free shipping to! Ships right to you and at 14lbs with a blanket stitch, it's amazing!
- You will need a few rulers to start. I highly recommend the 6.5" square and the 6.5" x 24.5" size to start. Also if you have not upgraded your rulers since your first beginner class... go NOW and do it, you'll wonder why you waited so long
- The Dritz Needle Inserter & needle Threader are a handy tool to have. Helps you hold your needle to replace it and if you don't have an automatic threader on your machine, this one works great
- Mini Iron
- Wool Pressing Mat
- The Thread cutter basket is SO useful! you can keep your Wonderclips or Alhabitties in it, top has a thread cutter, and the side has a magnet for pins!
- Last is a container for the project. I saw these and feel in love. They are REALLY Sturdy (I'm picky on that) and many colors and sizes. This one expands so it can be double the size if needed. I like to keep my project things all together. Since it folds up, I can store it if I don't have project for it.
