Gregg and I are comforted and humbled by the many well wishes, we don't even know where to begin. Your words are so kind, and they uplifted us as we remember Gregg's mom Madge with all our heart.
One person suggested I make a memory quilt and I thought about that.
I like the idea and I have a pattern that my super talented friend Kitty of Night Quilter designed.
This is a portion of an English Paper Piecing Rosette in her quilt called 'Pollinate'. I've not done a large English Paper Piecing (EPP) project... yet.
They take time. They take Patience, they take MORE time.. and MORE patience.
They scare me a bit. I don't want to start and never finish.
But I'm so intrigued. My friend Karen has a shop called the DIY Addict and she sent me the full set of EPP papers and pattern.
It still looks terrifying, but also, doable. The shapes are large enough for me and that darling Bee calls my name. Madge and I love flowers and going to the garden center was something we did a lot.
And Madge (My Mother-in-law) never backed away from a challenge that interested her. I think I'm going to dive into this quilt that has these gorgeous big rosettes and large bees and savor this project. Enjoy the process.
This bundle of Purple came in yesterday and purple was one of her favorite colors. (find the purple here)
So I'm thinking of making it with Purple, Pink, Green and white..with a splash of black. Madge loved a splash of black. I'm also going to look for some hummingbird fabric to honor her quilting legacy.

This is exciting and scary at the same time. I have not done a lot of handwork lately. I'm thinking of having a plan, i love a plan. Do I set goals? Do I say I'll stitch at bit bit each day? I'll decide on something and work to stick to it.

The other thing today is that I'll do the next fireside chat on Monday Sept 9.
Honestly I'm not up to doing it today. It's been hard and sad the last few months, it's caught up with me and we leave tomorrow to go out of town and I need the whole day to get ready to leave. Next Monday will be fun and we'll catch up, I miss chatting!
