For my Button club project this month I packed a whole lot of cuteness into a little mat!
The Fat Quarter Shop button box this month has a theme that lets you 'count sheep' for a relaxing nights sleep. Its all Baaa...lack, White and Sheep!!
How do you like my 'BeEWEtiful' circle mat? Now I want to add sheep to more things!
- My Aurifil 50 wt thread is is used to piece and sew on the buttons

Let me show you some tips for this fusible applique project. Click the photos for a larger image if you need to.
- For the large circle you will trace it onto Freezer paper using the quarter circle template.
- Directions explain how to use it as a template
- Freezer paper
For as many shapes as I can, I will cut away the middle part, called the donut method. That way the fusible acts as a basting rim and will be under my stitches. The legs I do not cut any of them out... yes you can thank me for that!
I need to put down a sheep in solid white first so that it blocks the green fabric.
Seeing the green background through the top layer is called 'Shadowing'. The solid white makes a block then the cream final sheep is put on the top.
Stitching is through both layers
I had SO MUCH fun with this!! A few of the buttons I layered in the border, like the white heart on a square black bead
- Buy the EWE button Kit, it's SO CUTE!
