I'm in love with the fabric kit we have for Winter Wonderland's books cover quilt, the Sleigh Bell Sampler!
At the end I've included the sew along information on Witches night out and Summer Celebrate the Seasons
Block #2 is the Scotty dog and it's so darn cute!! I have a few tips and a short video for making this block below. There is one section you need to be sure you don't have your pieces turned, rest is regular sew and flip!
The Fat Quarter shop and I created a great kit for this quilt with a super darling fabric line.
**** ON SHARING PHOTOS - The service i use had a huge change. I am allowed only 3 active photo sharing at a time unless I pay more for the service. TIPS:
- Cut JUST what is needed. I needed 2 red squares for the Scotty dog so that is ALL I cut from that red stripe.
- Some tips for directional fabric. For piece 'H" if you want the trees to all go the same way, but one vertical strip and one horizontal strip
I use the design boards to lay out all the pieces so I don't rotate them the wrong way.
For all my sew and flip I use the guidebeam on my Babylock Solaris. My favorite option!
Here is how I determine which way I want directional fabric to go
TIPS:
- The Scotty's chin is a multi step process. The first part is to make a flying Flying geese unit
- Position the Point facing down, then take your red square for a sew and flip on the left
- Position stripe up and down if you want them going the same direction.
Check placement before sewing!
The kit has similar feel to the fabric used in the book. The book was written a few year ago and that fabric is long gone.

Some of you pre-ordered a kit just like the book. Those are all sold out. So below I have a suggested starter bundle and background so you can buy that to make this with very similar fabric. I am making mine like the book because I had advance fabric and made the blocks to get ahead on your sew along. I will show you which pieces I'd use from the starter. Then you can add in from your stash to make it unique!
This book also has a darling pumpkin table runner option that is 16" x 58" if you want to make that for the sew along. I'm thinking of making a few of the blocks with the starter for a little wall hanging. Stay tuned to see if that happens!
