The Christmas Fig Book is Required
And.. Block #20 for the win!! All the blocks are done. This has been so exciting to do! I will do one more article when I get photos of both my quilts. Sometime later in June.
I am doing the tips with Something Blue Fabric as I make a 2nd quilt
TIPS for Making the Blue version
- Fabrics I used
- IMPORTANT - I cut just what is needed. I do not subcut as the book does because my fabric is not an exact substitution for the red/green quilt in the book. I don't want to waste any fabric
TIPS
- I could NOT find the gray Alphabitties I've been using for this project, what's with that? So i got out the blue and pink ones. I always lay out the pieces with the design board and alphabitties are always my saving grace so parts don't get mixed up. Which is really important when doing a color scheme different than the photo.
- DESIGN BOARDS
- ALPHABITTIES
Pat's TIPS
- I really am getting a lot of use out of this 'Bees Knees' book stand. I can turn it to face the machine when sewing, or the other direction when cutting. Take a wonderclip and clip the pages to it so they stay nice and flat.

TIPS
- I always do Sew and Flip from the straight edge, never the corner. This way you never suck the pieces into your feed dogs.
No drawing lines for me when I use my guide beams on my Baby lock!
LEARN about Baby Lock's Destiny II & Solaris Machines from your local dealer
Pat's TIPS
- Always add in Polka dots.... this is a very important tip, wink!
I can't reach the very top of my design wall so the last row is overlapped.
My corners are going to be a solid square.. tonight i'll work on that project so this to can be done!
Did you have fun? I did! Join my next sew alongs, details HERE
My Favorite Tools
- The digital is not exact fabric placement, it's just a draft for me to work from.
- AT the END share your block in my Quilt show! Several times during this sew along I will do random prizes for people who shared their blocks
