Let's make TulipFest blocks this week!
I'm going for a 4 block purple quilt. So this week I'll get at least another block done. I really do love the yellow and gingham so I'm keeping that to think on what to do!
I have tips on Sew and Flip and HST this week.
If making the full quilt make 6 blocks this week. ...or start.. or do the table runner.. or the placemats.
For the sew and flip I want to share with you how the amazing Frixon pen line will iron away. These pens are great for this task
Draw the line with the pen. There are many colors. Below I have a video on how the lines goes away with heat.

When trimming sew and flip I love using theis Mini Simple Folded Corner ruler
- Place the line on the seam
- trim
- You can then sew mini HST.. or. not ... wink!
And the other great tool is the Quilt in a Day ruler for trimming HST blocks when doing two at a time
- First cut between the sewn lines

- Now place the line with the size HST you want right on the seam
- trim the 2 sides with your Olfa Rotary cutter
For the full tulip you'll do
- Sew and flip on the bottom ends, same as all the tulips
- Then HST at the top. These go very quickly!
I have all the parts for the stem laid out ready to sew. This helps me keep from rotating the leaves the wrong directions.
I've got my book on the awesome stand behind my Baby lock Solaris so I can keep track of what I'm doing! (Click the photo for a larger image)
