Dreaming of Strawberries - FREE Pattern!

For our Button club project this month I'm ready for spring! 

The Fat Quarter Shop button box this month has a theme of 'Grow'. With my daffodils coming up and buds on the trees, I'm really in spring mode, even if my Virginia weather throws me a curve ball of a cold day, my heart is already for spring!

When the Cheeky fabric arrived the other day i KNEW this fabric needed to be used soon!

Usually in February or March we have been down south for either an event or a little R&R.  This year neither happened and I was missing those fresh strawberries that Florida has this time of years.. so ...... I made them for the project this month!

My strawberries are part of my Farmer's Market quilt. It is one of my most loved quilts because it's all about the memories from when my granny worked for a meat company and one of her jobs was to work the counter at the farmer's markets. I love farmer's markets of all shapes and sizes. If your town has one, I hope you go there often!

The buttons in the GROW box are so darling! Strawberries, words and look at the sweet little lady bug!

Are you ready for my Tulip Fest Sew Along!

I can't wait any longer, let's get my Tulip Fest Sew Along started!

I love tulips and what is better than a BIG block tulip?

Several of them!

After making the purple one I spotted these at the store. We were going out of town or I would have bought them, and today they didn't have them again. But this is what I'm loving, purple tulips!

I think I'll be back to the store tomorrow to see if they have the purple tulips again.

My Favorite new helper and Christmas Fig Block #15

My new office assistant! 

I've needed a book/pattern stand for a LONG time, this one works perfectly and it's aqua!

Super sturdy and easy to store when not in use this book stand is perfect!

Here it is from the back.  I put that little wonder clip on the top since that side of the book is less pages and it holds it nice and flat!

The Christmas Fig Book is Required

The Red & Green is just like the quilt in the book.

This week is the Bear's paw with the added applique, which I really like. 

I am doing the tips with Something Blue Fabric  as I make a 2nd quilt

TIPS for Making the Blue version

• I used the Dark blue for red and the lights with blue for the Gren fabrics. Then I paired the mostly cream fabric with them.
• IMPORTANT - I cut just what is needed. I do not subcut as the book does because my fabric is not an exact substitution for the red/green quilt in the book. I don't want to waste any fabric

TIPS

• I find laying out the pieces with the design board and alphabitties is my saving grace.

Pat's sew and flip accuracy TIPS

• Being accurate on Sew & Flip is important. 
• This one needs redone
• how do you like that I chopped off the text a bit on that photo... seems appropriate for a photo on avoiding errors!

• This won't be accurate either, redo it

• Again, redo, it's not going to come out accurately.

TIPS

I'm feeling ready to sew these together.  I think i'll do a light blue corner stone on this one as I like the way it looks when they are floating. And the corner stones make it easier to piece long strips.  The pattern has a little 4patch but i'll make a single square.  

• BUY a good 6.5" Ruler, this is my fav
• BUY the Trimming Ruler
• And buy a GREAT rotary cutter, Olfa in Pink, Turquoise and Purple!
