FIRST - I'm so excited to share with you that my virtual book tour starts March 6!
SECOND - I have a video about working on large projects and how to not put pressure on yourself. Particularly when sewing along on the Splendid Sampler. Then a tip on how I back my embroidery before stitching. Ready? Let's go!
Celebrate the Seasons:
It's my 37th book and I can't wait for you to get a copy. I created a full book of quilts, pillows, table runners and mats to decorate for each season. They are fun and can be tailored to fit your beautiful home.
You can see the quilts and Pre-order HERE.
My New book ships in early March and then the fun begins with first my book tour next week March 6,7,8 and then we'll start sewing projects together, I can't wait! So get your book!
PS.. the Quilt behind me is one of my Digital patterns, not in the book. It is my red/white version of 'Crush' BUY HERE
Splendid Sampler:
I want us all to have fun with our quilting, not feel it's a chore or te be stressed out by 'trying to keep up'.
We all work at different paces and the beauty of working on a sampler is making new friends and learning new things. The Splendid Sampler community will be open for a long time. New people join, people just start, it's not a start to finish project. It's a journey of learning and making with friends
Watch my fireside chat, then leave me a comment telling me where you are in your splendid sampler journey, I'd love to hear now that you know where I am.
Video Highlights
- If you stalled, have not started, are switching colors.. whatever it is that means you've not sewn a block for awhile, stop. Go get an easy block in your favorite method of making, then make it. Start now.
- Try picking one day a week to work on this quilt. Then you work on other projects other days. If you happen to have time to work on it more days, great! But don't pressure yourself.
- Breath, Stop comparing. Stop feeling you are 'behind'. If you had a goal and you are not reaching it. Change your goal. Make it a DOABLE goal.

- I back my embroider with Heat n Bond Fusible interfacing. This makes the fabric a bit more stable and it hides threads from shadowing.
- It's also very soft and easy to stitch through.
TIPS:
- Closeup of the fusible, I made it larger than 6.5" but not as big as the background
- When you press it put a fabric over the top so the iron's heat is on the fabric. This method is called using a 'pressing cloth'.
- I love the Wool Pressing mat for making it nice and flat!
My design wall is VERY full! I put up the Splendid to get a row sew. This lets me see color placement. Then I fold it up until I work on blocks again.
Now go to the Splendid Sampler website and Visit the other 3 designers for today!
