This years theme is blocks inspired by places.
Sharon knew here inspiration city immediately and I couldn't wait to see what she created, the Big Apple it is! This is her block, she took it with her on a trip to NYC and you'll see some of the photos at the interview
Sharon designs fabric for Art Gallery and it's VERY yummy. I have collected quite a bit of it
My quilt is black/white & aqua so I decided on a white apple.
When looking through my things I spotted the sewing machine fabric I had bought and I HAD to put that and some Japanese word print with Fashion Show on it.
BUY yourself some sewing machine fabric and sprinkle it in things!
I have few 'Pro Tips' for your block
- The block is strips. So lay out the fabric, before cutting, in the order you might want to sew them in to see how they look.
- (and yes.. doesn't everyone have mini pumpkins on their work table?)
Pro Tip
- Since I was doing a bit of a reverse color, it helped me keep track of the pieces by JUST cutting on side first.
- I also sewed that one side before doing the next
Pro Tip
- For Sew and Flip I like to audition before sewing
- I created this test of high contrast to show you. Position the square and pin it
- Fold it back to see that it matches the pattern
- BONUS - with these small pieces, I sew 2.5" squares together to start and stop from my scrap system (read about that here)

PRO TIP
- After the aqua side was sewn I cut the black half
- I had one extra square there, so tossed that, but it's better to have an extra!
