It's fun fabric day in my studio! I should be sewing other things, but instead... I made ....
The Letter G for the Spelling Bee Sew Along!
I've been taking my time trying to decide the colors and fabrics for this quilt. I think... because you know I CAN change my mine.. but I THINK I decided that this quilt will go to one of the little kids in my family. That means I am going to start using all fun fabrics for each letter, which makes it like an I spy quilt! The strips for the letters are narrow but that just makes the fussy cutting more interesting.
I got the lambs in a bundle of green fabrics. And they are directional.
In order to keep them all going the 'right way' I am cut the whole block and lay it out.. then I can see that the directional Lamb fabrics is where I want them.
The corner squares are done 'sew and flip' style and I used my Laser guide. I LOVE this laser as it's built into my Babylock Destiny II machine and can be positioned if needed.
When you do the sew and flip method, there are triangles to trim.
Tiny Triangles this time.
I'm thinking I'm a but nuts.. but ... why not sew them up!
In the future if I decide I'm going to sew the teeny tiny triangles, I'll prestarch my fabric. That makes them much easier to feed into the machine.
But... it's a cute baby pinwheel right? SO worth it... I LOVE tiny things!
All my blocks so far. The Fat Quarter shop sew along has a ton of designers and they are assigning a block each week. So you can visit the others if you want to see their blocks. Not everyone posts on the same day, but 2 people do a block each week. This week is the Big & Little G.

My other Fun Fabric this week is the Cotton + Steel curated bundle. Last month I had fabulous unicorn fabric, this month It's SUCH a pretty bundle!
I'm deciding which I need more yardage of.. maybe a bolt.. those pinks and aquas are yummy!
You club bundle also comes with a pattern to use the fabrics in, and a spool of thread!
The club is $39.98 quarterly plus shipping and includes
- 12 fat quarters from new Cotton + Steel collections
- one spool of Sulky Thread
- an exclusive pattern designed to use the fat quarters
I really love this bundle. The Fat Quarter shop mixes lines to give us a unique bundle of fabric for each club. And the patterns are really nice. You can use it or put the fabric towards other projects. The fabrics themselves are top quality and I love the variety of designs. I've not been disappointed and you can get a feel for Cotton + Steel fabrics HERE
I think I'll start a 'sew inbetween other things' project with it, maybe using the club pattern as it looks pretty darn easy!
Thank you for using my links, it help support all the fun!
