I am THRILLED to be designing a mini quilt each month to showcase year 2 of the Button Lover's Club!
Each month the buttons are a collection by color and theme.
I'll be posting the pattern prior to the buttons arriving from the club, that way you are ready to just stitch them down when they arrive!
I am SUPER excited that this year we get all the cutie patootie buttons.. look at the strawberry!
"Sail Into Summer" is fast & fun! (download my pattern at the end), mine is made with Sunday Drive!
I combined applique, patchwork and a fun place to showcase some of the button.
Do you see those CUTE clothes pins? You can get them HERE.. I LOVE them!
Here is a tip for getting rid of the shadow of one fabric behind another lighter fabric. You can do it this way as I'm using the cut away method that I teach you in my Learn to Applique book. This method keeps your work very soft.
- Stitch down, I'm using 50wt Aurifil
- Carefully pull the back fabric away from the front and make a little slit
- Take your scissors and trim away behind the lighter sail about 1/4" from the stitching
- And now you won't see the swirls through the stripe!
This piece can go into your scrap bin for sewing up string blocks!
Yeah!

The buttons ship from Fat Quarter Shop on the 4th of the month and it’s a 12 month program, and I'm designing the project each month!
