Block 5 of my 2017 Mystery Block of the Month is inspired by a favorite children's author.. and picking just one was hard for our 'Children's Library'
I can't imagine a children's library without a Dr. Seuss book! My pick is the sing songy 'Green Eggs and Ham'!
I did a little research on the book and you'll find that on the download page....

The 'Shipping Department' actually came up with the idea to have a display ribbon across the fireplace. When we had our home built, we selected this very clean line slat fireplace, with no mantel. which has been very handy when I moved my studio in here years ago.
Now to show you a little TUTORIAL with my other colorway...

I paired the the super darling Pineapple fabric with the 'wheels' from my Sunday Drive Batiks and found that tiny scallop from another Moda line.
This is a fun scrap buster block because you can make all the small squares with scraps, then keep the wide strip the same neutral color in each block.. now I want to try about 20 of them to see how it looks!
Here are a few tips on this block
- I sewed 2 strips then sub cut them 1.5" wide. This gave me a set of 2 patch units to layout
- I used the large design board to keep it straight, and put the pattern at the top before I started to sew.
- As I picked up each piece for a strip, I did keep the scallop going the same direction for that strip.
All Five blocks up on the line, and once again... the breeze was kicking in just a bit!
