I can resist no longer.. which is a good thing as we are on unit 2 right now and I don't want to get too far behind! The Fat Quarter shop and my friend Sherri McConnell have a free pattern each month all going into a skill building quilt.
Each month is a different technique.. which I think is really cool.
Some I've not done for a long time, and I can't wait to revisit those!
This is the final quilt made with Bella Solids by Moda.
They have a kit and certain tools that will be show all on one page HERE
I got the kit and decided to add in print fabrics... starting with this strawberry print in place of some of the brown fabrics
And these Sunday Drive prints to swap out for pinks, teal and the grey may be splashed in there.. we'll see! I can't wait to play around with each unit to mix up the solids with my prints.
I knew I was going to have trouble resisting when it came to #2.. the Orange Peel and the templates make it SO easy!.. I have wanted to use this again and try another method of making them.
And just today I got my full set of 80wt Aurifil in that I can use for almost invisible applique by hand or machine!
Sherri McConnell & Kimberly Jolly take you through making the entire unit each month with tips and fun things!
She uses fusible interfacing to do a turned applique and the Purple tool to poke out the corners
I also love the GREAT light box for placement!
I have my fabric, fusible interfacing... and I'm ready to give this a go!
The patterns are at the FQS website.
Are you interested in doing some skill building this year?
I am going to do the technique each month. That is just ONE technique to try out. I might make several of the blocks or just one for the technique. Then at the end I'll set whatever I did! No pressure. Just give yourself time to learn something new each month. It's fun to learn! This is my test with the 80 wt Aurifil and a new stitch on my Baby lock Destiny II.
