Block 8 of my 2017 Mystery Block of the Month is new book to my library, but an old favorite of my friends!

The classic 'Goodnight Moon' wasn't part of my families bedtime tales, but I love the sing song nature of it. Being written specifically as a bedtime story I think it does the job!

Block #7 - Pat Sloan The Children's Library a FREE BOM pattern

Block 7 of my 2017 Mystery Block of the Month is a trip down memory lane to build my fairy tale 'library' of favorite Children's books. This month I'm delighted that it features not only a little girl.. but farm animals!

‘Charlotte's Web' is a little girls dream... children who have talking animals.. oh yes!

This is my favorite quote from the book. Normally you see just the first part, this is the whole thing

I love to do this, start your quilt setting now, then when we are done, you have a whole top finished so fast! I think it's so much nicer to set it as I go then wait until the end.

I have been working with the 3 x 6 Bloc Loc flying geese ruler to test it out, it's perfect for triming these square in a square blocks!

Flip it over to see the grooves in the ruler, those are key

For the Square in a Square block, once you have all 4 sides on, you trim

Sliding the Bloc loc ruler up so it pressing against the seams 'locks' it tight.

Trim the excess away!

Would you like a more simple option?

Directions for a 4 patch

Cut 2 light 2" squares
Cut 2 dark 2" squares
Sew a 4 patch alternating
It measures 3.5" x 3.5"

Block #6 ... Pat Sloan FREE BOM The Children's Library FREE pattern

Block 6 of my 2017 Mystery Block of the Month is a fairy tale that has intrigued me since I was a child...so I had to include it in our 'Children's Library'

‘The Princess and the Pea’... a stack of mattress (quilts for us!) and she still feels that pea and can not sleep.. how does that work my children's brain wondered? I am one of 'those kids' with all kind of things that bother me (I share one at the download page). Hans Christian Andersen wrote many tales and now I want to read more as an adult and his writing is fun!
