Today we'll be in Tasmania, Texas and South Carolina! Our tour stops are
- Cheryl Brickey in Greenville, South Carolina visit meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/
I got to following Cheryl's writing when she host a tour for new quilt bloggers. I love that she was helping people get the word out and make new friends! Then she did a series on How to Write a quilt pattern. The information is really for anyone, not just people who are in the business. Have you ever wanted to write a handout for your guild, or quilt friends? Maybe tell them some instructions for a cute project you did? See, it's for everyone! I interviewed Cheryl about her article on using sheets for backing, she did GREAT research, the 'science of quilting' is her gig!
- Helen Stubbings in Hobart Tasmania at www.hugsnkisses.net/ visit instagram.com/helen_stubbings/ and hugsnkisses.typepad.com/
Helen is so talented, from being an shop owner, author, fabric designer, fantastic teacher, and possibly the person who will be responsible for me FINALLY starting a Hexie quilt! One of her applique methods she uses a foundation that softens and stays in the project. She came up with the idea to use this for hexagons too, it's really brilliant for people like me who can't seem to enjoy wrapping around paper or plastic. Plus the foundation has a light fusible on one side to tack down the fabric. I have the Foundations, I have her online class, I have fabric... do you think I'm ready?
Also.. would you want to do a project with Helen and I for hexies? IF YES, leave me a comment about hexies!
- Kimberly Jolly in Austin, Texas of www.fatquartershop.com visit fatquartershop.blogspot.com/ and www.instagram.com/fatquartershop/
Kimberly and Kevin Jolly are the incredible owners of The Fat Quarter shop. I'm so happy to have gotten to know them over the years. Besides running a fabulous shop with things we ALWAYS love (and need!) they are very generous. For many years now they have given free patterns and free sew alongs for the Quilt community. They sponsors many events, and they include the designers in what they do. They support, participate and encourage not only thier customers, but the designers in the industry. Kimberly is also a talented designer and very generous with teaching others about quilting with her many youtube videos. Two of my favorite projects are the Charity sew a long and the Designer Mystery. I've been making the Charity quilt the last few years, and adding mine to the auction for the charity of year to raise even more money. I will do the same again this year, it's really a neat quilt! And I'm one of the Mystery designers.. yeah!
