Since I've been touring all over the world... I decided to keep closer to home for the last day... I'll start in Michigan, then head to New York and end with two friends in Virginia. Our tour stops are
- Brenda M. Ratliff in Ann Arbor, Michigan of Pink Castle Fabrics visit Brenda's main blog JustABitFrayed where she has made up some of the blocks in her fabrics, they are darling!! the shop blog is www.pinkcastleblog.com/
Brenda is a super fun shop owner, fabric and pattern designer! You know she is fun when her company name is 'Pink Castle' and her retreats are called 'glamp Stitchalot'. Brenda has super clever ways of using fabric up, even the tinest of scraps, because buys the best stuff for her shop and you don't want to miss using every single thread of cuteness! She leans toward the modern and I love the mix of projects she always does! I'm also thrilled that Brenda said yes when I asked if she would be on the Aurifil Design team this year! (she has a thread kit too!)
- Karen Miller is from the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Upstate NY... Opposite of the city, Karen tole them they have plenty of farmland, rolling hills and beautiful lakes and streams... ideal locations for bird watching visit karensquiltscrowscardinals.blogspot.com/ her www.facebook.com/
RedbirdQuiltCo and IG www.instagram.com/ RedbirdQuiltCo
I think many of us first 'meet' Karen via her Moda Bakeshop Redbird quilt. Not only is it a gorgeous quilt design she has given us for free, but her quilting will knock your socks off!! I'm so lucky that we have become friends and she is another amazing person who wrote me right away after seeing my book. You are in for a real treat when you visit her page because she has made up one of the projects from my book, it's adorable! (ps.. her quilt pattern is now at Craftsy so you can save it in your download library)
- Wendy Sheppard outside Washington DC in Virginia visit ivoryspring.wordpress.com/
Wendy is an amazing designer with books and Aurifil thread kits. She also designs a lots of quilt patterns for magazines and fabric manufactuers. Plus like Karen, she is an AMAZING quilter. She teaches this at her website and in her classes. You can see how she went about doing holly & berries .. i love it! Wendy and I also share a special talent for having evening events when it rains... especially on a Tues.. so if you notice it raining on Tues night, you can be sure Wendy and I are out at something!
- Kim Niedzwiecki in Spotsylvania, Virginia visit www.gogokim.com/
Kim's nick name is Go-Go Kim, which really does describe her well! She is super creative and very skilled with a machine creating things like the log cabin skirt she is wearing! She made a quilt top, then cut it up and made a skirt... yes she really did! She has some serious seamstress skills from clothing to quilts to projects. Including the new Go-Go bowl which is pretty darn fun. Kim is also a Splendid Sampler Designer and you will see her block soon! When I meet Kim she literally swirled in like a mini tornado wearing an amazing outfit, she made, and chattering a mile a minute... (have you noticed I like people who talk a lot.. like me?). From working together at Aurifil we become such good friends and I'm honored to have her share my book with you.
