You that I make many... ok..let's be honest.. I make MOST of my quilts for publication. Occasionally I make one as a gift. And I do start a lot of 'non work' quilts.. but finish them? not so much. But when i do finish them it's pure heaven on earth... and Strawberry love is in this category... let's take a look shall we?
I had been looking at the Sew Emma Strawberry pattern and just loved it..
Big, RED, Strawberries!!! my kind of quilt... I didn't start.. didn't start... then i said what the heck I'm going to make this quilt!
Cutting began and here I decide to cut the entire quilt first. I do NOT work like this. Generally I cut some, sew some, I have usually designed the pattern so I'm working as I go in units.
This time I wanted to experience cutting it ALL at once and how would that feel... to have every piece ready to just sit and sew. I know a lot of you love to work like this.
For my first journey into a 'cut it all at once quilt' I was pretty happy. I think this one worked so well for me because there are not a lot of pieces and they are BIG.. my kind of project!
What about twirling my Strawberry Love blocks???
I seriously thought about just appliqueing them to a background like this...
And the magic happened.. big huge juicy red strawberry blocks sewed together....
like a dream...

because a special quilt NEEDS a perfect backing
And the top ALL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a happy girl I am!
It has been sent to the Spa for it's quilting.. it will come back all amazing and beautiful and ready for me to enjoy... I ... Can... Not... WAIT!
