The Splendid Sampler is going to reach block 50 on Thursday Aug 4 ... Jane and I are MEGA excited about this.. which is a cause for a celebration... or in other words....
It's time for a Party!!!!
Starting today, and ending on Sunday night.. we have not only block 50 and 51, but 3 days of designer posts with a 'mystery' at each...
The 'Mystery' is that you never know what they will be sharing... but it will be fun!
To kick off the celebration is my block! Jane and I decided that block 50 is like getting to the Top of the Hill and the Moon over the Mountain is a very traditional block that I've wanted to make for a long time.
When I travel to visit you and teach, we go through a LOT of mountains and one of my favorite drives is along the Blue Ridge. I wish I could stop time and just stay in one spot to watch the sky for a full 24 hour change as it comes across the mountains.
For my block I decided to do traditional needle turn applique this time. That is the type of applique I started out with, when my friends showed me how to applique.
Honestly.. it felt great to do that... now I'm thinking... what about a take along project to use up scraps for a Moon over the Mountain quilt?
