My block this month is named for the Garden that started the whole idea of having a garden theme, Keukenhof Garden in Holland
When you read my story at our download page, you'll learn why... and look at that BLAST from the past photo.. wowzer! Can't believe the SIZE of my glasses! I went through my photo album to find some pictures from that trip.
In the video this month I show you how to figure out directional fabric for the blocks corners, like in the blue version. So be SURE to watch it!
Here at my site I'm giving you a tip on how to layout the fabrics so you don't get them mixed up.. but some of you want that block right now.. soooooo

I find the key to being successful with this is to be organized and work in units so that you don't get mixed up.
Because color placement can give you a really different look than mine if done a different way. I show you that in the video too.
For the 4patch, it should look like above for my 'Hometown Girl' version. If you sew them in a different order you don't get the navy fabrics meeting against the navy of the corner HST. Order IS important on this one.
Next I sew these units and put them all on my design board to keep track and be sure they are all sewn the same say for the 4-patch units.
After sewing the next subset of units, I once again put them on the board for organization.
This large board is awesome.... it's the 18" one and I love it!
A full 16" block of units layout fits on it so I can sew right from here!
Woohooo!
All Sewn up!
I'm having such fun with this colorway!
When I was looking for photos of the garden I found lots of dutch shoe pictures, like these! When we did our first visit to Holland I was a little girl and my daddy bought me my own pair of carved wooden shoes. They are beautiful and at the time, they fit, it was so fun to wear them! I must find them, I know they are here in the house somewhere, they are just gorgeous.
