Almost a year ago I wrote to Jane and asked her if she wanted to organize a project together. Many hours of planning later kicked off The Splendid Sampler™.
This is more than just a quilt along of 100 blocks.. it's a epic journey with 83 designers, industry leaders, and thousands and thousands of quiltmakers.
Some are doing a block here.. a block there.
But many are tuning in to create a sampler quilt with meaning.
With thoughtfulness. They are sewing with friends, with family, and they are sewing with me. It gives me goosebumps to think that so many of us will be working together for years to come.
My time has been focused on getting the blocks for the book ready for photography.
Jane and I have been focused on getting all the design team on board, organized and patterns written. Then we focused on having the website up and the launch!
We have both answered thousands of emails to get everyone going.
There is still a bit left to do.... but the other day I realized I can now move into my forever phase of the project. I can now enjoy it, and make my own quilt.
I'm making a quilt of 100 of the first block which is my 'Heart's Aflutter' block.... doesn't this pile of blocks look amazing!
And I'm going to make a smaller version for the book
Plus I'll be making all the blocks for my own quilt. I want to make mine in Aqua, Red, Gray, and White.
And I want to journal about making the blocks. I don't have a need to make this fast, or to keep up. What I want to do is document how it feels to be a quiltmaker. I'm going to create a table with links to each block hat you can go and read about. I'll let you know when that is live. (don't hold your breath..it might be a few weeks)
For now.. i really wanted to share that I'm doing this... and Invite you to join at either my Facebook classroom, or the one for The Splendid Sampler™ project.. or leave me comments here when i post.
It's going to be amazing.. I just know it.
