With the upcoming launch of The Splendid Sampler™, it is a year of learning for me. Some of the techniques I have not done for a long time. My over all skills are much stronger than 20 years ago, which means I can pick things up quicker than when I tried them years ago. And there are better ways to do and explain things!
Thank goodness there is More than one way to do any technique that comes up!
So I want to issue a 'Year of Learning' challenge you, would you like to do like me, learn new things?
Good, let's get started!
This is the first of many posts for the year on learning. I want to give you severl classes to try from industry experts. They are the best of the best at what they do.
First you really should take Laura Nownes workshop to learn an amazing new tool box of tricks! Her book Quilts, Quilts, Quilts is what I learned to quilt from, see, I told you we are doing to the experts today!
I did a Deep Dive review of this workshop here if you want more
There will be paper pieced blocks and I think you can learn some mighty cool trick from the master herself, Carol Doak. This workshop you can watch and rewatch to see exactly how to do it!
Buy her foundation papers if you want to try them and books too
My good friend Mimi Dietrich has the best way of explaining hand applique. I know a lot of people love this, as do I... and want to get better. Or maybe you want to learn so you can take projects with you in your purse! (hard to do that with a machine..wink!). You will be able to rewind and stop action to see exactly how she handles tricky spots.
Helen Stubbings new workshop is incredible. This is the technique that I personally want to embrace this year. I have done some but know there are tricks and better ways to do things! I am super excited she has this new online class..
I have been perfecting the art of machine applique for years. I've written about it many times, and I teach in my workshops to thousands of quilters each year. Both my Teaching series books are a classroom in your hand. I have photo step outs so you can see exactly what I'm doing.
There are tips and tricks... reference guides AND a load of cute quilts to make... of course! There will be applique in the The Splendid Sampler™ and there will be triangles, get both my books to start your library of reference guides!
BUY My Applique book HERE or at Amazon HERE
BUY My Triangle book HERE or at Amazon HERE... and check with your favorite quilt shop, I am sure they have it!
