My Secret Garden, FREE Mystery Block #3

My Mystery Secret Garden this month is the classic Japanese Tea Garden. I've found these are Japanese Tea Gardens all over the world, how fun is that!! Do you know if your town has one? If they do, list it in the comments, I'd love to look them up!

I became intrigued by Asian culture at a very young age. In 6th grade I was reading a ton of books, and I found Pearl S. Buck's The Good Earth. This is quite the book for a little girl to absorb... I tell you about it on the pattern page......

Pat Sloan: My Secret Garden, FREE Mystery Block #2

For my FREE Mystery, My Secret Garden, I go back in time a few years to an amazing trip I hosted .. to Ireland!

Are you Irish? I bet you are and you don't even know it.. wink! The Killarney National Park was on my Quilter's tour of Ireland trip and the experience was amazing.

On this trip the quilters and I spent 9 days touring and seeing so many wonderful things. From cities like Dublin to watching a sheep herding demo .. do you see the collie in the grass?

One spectacular garden we visited was Killarney National Park.. who doesn't love a park with a castle in it! Plus we had a ferry ride that went around with a landing to go walk the castle.

This is one of my favorite photos of the trip, the perfect little group of thatched roof cottages with early spring gardens. We did decide that it would make the best little quilt shop!

When working with blocks I've really been excited about using the design boards to layout and keep track of things.

I know you can make them, but honestly I prefered to buy them, and I have several sizes. Great for the small project and the large blocks!

The day I was taking photos was the day after our HUGE 30" of snow! I could not resist showing you how they looked the 'day after' the big snow storm.

Here we go, 2 blocks together, in both colorways!!

Pat Sloan: My Secret Garden FREE Mystery BOM - Block 1

I've had a few grey and gloomy days, so I'm MORE than ready for 'My Secret Garden' Mystery to start! Block 1 is....

Do you LOVE the big block size? I'm really excited about this!

This might be my favorite photo taken on that day. The greenery was glorious and yes, that is the Capital right next door.

When I'm working on blocks I love using these flannel boards. And yes i KNOW you can make one, but I'd rather quilt! So I bought one already made in a few sizes.
