The next block in our Farmer's Market journey is the Fresh Farm Picked Corn! My family is CRAZY about corn. White corn, yellow corn, fresh corn of any kind. Well I might clarify that to mean my DAD and I are crazy about it (youngest brother doesn't eat any corn.. any... corn... we still love him.. but seriously.. no corn.. but I digress)
As we roll into winter around much of the quilting world, we can imagine those folks in Australia visiting farmer's markets, while we have plant seed booklets covering out dining room table! So keep this image handy, make it your screen saver, stick it on your phone.. yes.. I am like that!
In my neck of the woods (urban America) we find the best corn at the farmer's market. But I know there are farm stands right along country roads that have corn pick 10 min ago for sale.. my dream is to get THAT corn!
As a kid there wasn't much frozen corn, corn came fresh, or in a can. And for some reason my Granny LOVED creamed corn... and me.. not so much
Does your family make creamed corn? Do you have a great recipe for it?
My friends at Pinch of Yum have a Ton of great corn recipes like this one! It's SO yummy and you can use up other veggies too.. bonus points!
