My friend Amanda Murphy is so talented! She designs fabrics, digital designs and writes great and informative books! Her newest book is now out and I can't wait to share it with you!
So many of us when we first learn to quilt our own quilts create a 'go to' set of shapes and ways to get our quilts done.
Amanda wrote this great design book that helps you break down your quilt top and look at it in pieces so you can develop a new set of shapes to quilt on it.
I love that approach! It is going to help you break down the task and 'problem' of 'what to quilt' by showing you ways to think about your quilt top.
Looking around my studio I found my Little Joys top, and it's already basted!
Let's take a look at the inside of the book, and keep this quilt in mind.
Amanda took a group of blocks and went through several ways to add quilt designs to them. Like this quilt, you most likely you won't find the exact block you have, but the process of looking at the shapes is great.
She gives you that step by step flow of how to quilt it.
For mine, I like that swirl in the outer border and how it frames. And on the other page I like the final corners of the HST units.
She also has patterns, and this is a super simple one to practice on. The rain fence blocks are taken to a whole new level with great quilting on them!
And I can see doing those orange peels or ribbons on my Little Joy quilt!
Plus.. spiral bound.. that is all.. perfect for putting next to your project!
C&T Publishing is giving away a copy of Amanda's book, woohoo! If you are the winner and are in the US, you will receive a physical copy, or an international winner will receive an e-book.
