Monday is SHOW day here in my studio!! I wanted to take a minute of your time.. is that ok? good... come along..
I was delighted when Moda Fabrics asked to chat with me about the show and they write a article for for their blog.. you can read it!
Today I wanted to share even more of the backstory of my show.
In late 2009 I was contacted by a group that wanted to have an all woman internet radio show. With a bunch of different topics. The webmaster for the organization is a quilter and she told them to contact me to see if I would be interested.
In 2009 there were not many internet radio shows, I had a bit of research to do! After looking into it I talked with the owner of the Toginet Radio Station.
One of the interesting questions he asked me was 'do you think you can talk about Quilting for a full hour?'.
My First show was January 18, 2010
Well 5 years later, I can safely say that that with 283 shows recorded...yes I can talk quilting! And I can talk for an hour almost every week for those 5 years.
I totally love this part of my job. I have amazing partners in American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine and Moda Fabrics.
Going into my 6th year I have over the 200,000 subscribers... WOW.. yes.. all those zeros are right! And sometimes a quarter of a million people listen.
We quilters are mighty!
Let me give you a brief 'what is this'
- This is internet Radio, that is all recorded. JUST like NPR Radio (Fresh Air is my Favorite) BUT... without all the staff and editing.... wink!
- My shows are recorded so you can subscribe or listen online
- I find all the guests myself
- I write all the guests
- The day of the show, the station calls me on skype, then calls each guest on by phone, and sometimes by skype
- After the show I get the recording and pull out quotes for the American Patchwork & Quilting Website
- I write to all the guests, and let you know the show is live!
Today is an encore show during the live time slot. Next week will be a new show! If you are not caught up, or have not listened to my older shows, now is the day to do it.
Who would YOU like to hear me talk with?
Or what TOPIC are you interested in?
