I am one of the lucky people who, every 7 years, shares their birthday with Thanksgiving day. It's wonderful because on this day, the 4th Thursday in November, we all stop and reflect. Think about what we are thankful for.
Remembering to do that is important to me.
This year is 2 years since I asked if anyone wanted to send me a block for my birthday so I could make a quilt from them.
The out pouring was amazing, and I am humbled.
I also got a LOT of blocks.. like.. A LOT.
I started working on them, sorting them into piles, getting rows made
And deciding just HOW BIG was this going to be.
It's big. I'm trying to be sure it can fit on the machine my friends have so they can quilt it for me.
About June of last year I got stumped. I have a LOT of blocks... way more than one quilt.
So I started to sew a second quilt
Yes.. really.. a whole second quilt. And it also got big!
I stalled then, because I couldn't decide if I wanted two quilts, or one quilt with 2 sides.
In the end I'm opting for one quilt, two sides
And tomorrow morning,
Thanksgiving day,
which is also my Birthday,
I'll sew some blocks and work to finish this quilt of many friendships.
This quilt of much love
This amazing quilt that i will cherish as it's full of memories so sweet
Have a beautiful day, hug your family,
Give thanks.
