When I heard about the new Fat Quarter Baby book I was so excited! There is a new little person I was getting ready to make a quilt for, so what better way then try a new project!
This It's Sew Emma book is chock FULL of projects, and each quilt is named for a person. Boys... and Girls. I know I'm working on a quilt for a little boy, so my project is 'Paul'. This block is super cute!
But I decided that i wanted to use some Cori Dantini fabrics I bought for this little fellow..Then i pulled a bunch of fabrics that started me off thinking.
Next I pulled out my sketch pad. This is a super easy block to use with panels!! Cori's fabric lines often have rectangle panels in them. And they are a nice size for a baby quilt.
I just made the sashing between the blocks the same size as the block, with seam allowance, EASY, I'll be adding blocks in all 4 corners.. but thought.. mmmm.. it needs something...
I believe some dots!
I traced circles with the lid of my canning jar that holds my pins.
This new little adventurer to our family will be learning all kinds of fun activities. His daddy is a Marine, and his mama is my amazing niece. I think his Uncle will be teaching him how to play horse shoes and I may teach him how to cook to those fish he catches!
EVERY baby quilt needs a wash and a snuggle before it heads out to it's new owner.
I had a lot of fun quilting the panels by following the images, I love Cori's designs!
You can also find the new Aurifil baby thread kits, so darn cute, right!
I bought this fantastic Christmas panel and I think will be perfect for this technique to make a nice new wall hanging with 4 images. Links below....
