Sometimes one must just say YES when asked to join in, you get that right? My friends at the Fat Quarter shop do a wonderful series of small quilts. Remember the Panda (find it here)?

They have a GREAT little mini called Brilliant Cut. They made their version with a white diamond on navy, with Moda's Bella Solids.... think 'put a ring on it'.. wink!
I had to join in because my birthstone is a Topaz, and I wanted a topaz ring!
The topaz can be very pale yellow to golden brown, and I have ALWAYS loved yellow... perfect right?
To select my fabric I did an audition with some red strips and the floral background from my fabric line The Sweet life.
Then went digging in my scraps for several yellow fabric.. such fun!
I used a off white 50wt Aurifil to match stick quilt my piece.
Because I wanted the band to POP, I first outline quilted it, and then did no quilting on the band. I think it worked!
Kimberly has a GREAT video that shows you how this ruler makes it easy to create the stone.
Once again I went into my scrap bag and found this batik from my First Moda line, fun right? Look at all those colors! I may have to make another fussy cutting from all those colors.
And now this hangs in my studio!! LOVE it so much!!
maybe I need more tiny quilts.. what do you think?
