What is sweeter than a bird? I love to feed them, watch them and listen to them!

My mother-in-law is a bird magnet. She has feeder that attracts birds all year long that is right near the window in the living room. It's wonderful to be able to watch them so closely.

Pat Sloan: UFO busting pinkie swear.. you in?

I had a serious falling off the wagon when it came to UFO busting so far this year. The truth is .. nothing has moved forward.. NOTHING... in all caps.  

So I REISSUE the challenge to myself to finish some UFOs. UnFinished Objects.

I have them, I create new ones, I finish some, and don't finish some... many. But each year I faithfully figure out a challenge with a goal and set it. 

And for many years now I've challenge you to work along with me.  It's SO fun and inspiring to motivate each other all year. And usually makes me work on them.

I am showing you again, and being brutally honest.  I've hauled out all my finished tops, the pieces that are currently living in Top-ville.

Then I counted them.

There are 17 items that need finished. 

11 are lap size or bigger.

ok... not as bad as I thought. Do you know why it's not as bad as I thought? Because last year I also made this grand challenge to finish UFOs.. you can look back.. not very far i might add, and see that project on the top... it was top of the list last year. oi oi oi! 

So I am starting Fresh. Of the 11 larger projects I'm sorting then in the order I plan to do them.  

And then I decide to pull out the top 4

They are

• a Christmas Quilt that needs a tiny bit more quilting, then a sleeve, label and binding
• my basket quilt (still) that needs quilted
• A top I use in my workshops that I want quilted 
• and my Red version of my pattern 'Crush' (pattern here)

Pat Sloan: A few things bouncing around my studio

Life can be crazy right? Do you sometimes feel like you are working on 800 projects at once, but none seem to get done? Maybe none are even worked on? I feel like that sometimes.  

Quilting is SUCH FUN .. right? Fun to start new things.. I'm a starter.  I have some projects that REALLY need to be finished.  I have projects for my business, like our Vacation time, The Aurifil Blocks, my books, fabric lines and patterns.  But I also have things I do for fun and I want to get more done on them. Sound familiar?

So what are my non-business quilt projects 'of the moment' .. this is by no means ALL my projects in progress.. they could fill a book!

My quilting friendship group has issued a challenge to use scrap strips of my fabric. I've share small clips of my challenge in progress, like this one. 

Would you like to see more of it? it's not done yet... 

Here is the piece in progress. It's been taking me some time to think it through. There is a quote that will go around the whole outside. I'm cutting the letters. The whole outside is scrappy navy. there will be more applique.

I'm having such fun with this!  

My next challenge will be soon. I asked at my Facebook group what type of challenges I should offer next and a table runner seems to be winning.. so I have a plan for that!

The other HUGE personal project is my Birthday block quilt. My goal is to have it pieced by the end of November. It is HUGE.. like HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

It is going to have to be 2 sides and about 100 x 100. One side might have a center applique about the projects.. Once side one is done, I'll see how many more blocks I have. There are more sections pieced, they just need sewn. 

My design wall has to free up so I can get this up there!

 

And in the spirit of making, I purchased more fabric to go in my birthday block quilt.. because I'm sure I didn't have enough aqua and red variety..
