Pat Sloan: Give Away Day, Can you say Smash Your Stash?

Kate Colleran and Elizabeth Balderrama are the designers of Seams Like a Dream. I first meet Kate in a Convent... yep.. that's right! It had been turned into a retreat center and we were both teaching there!

Their new book is fabulous and I'm part of the tour! It's called 'Smash Your Precut Stash' and they sent all the tour designers 5 questions to answer.....  Ready?

What color do you have the most of in your stash?

It looks like a tie between Blue and Red, although I think I have more Blue because there are some HUGE pieces of red in the red bins.

So today I say BLUE! 

Did I mention I'm giving away a copy of their book? 

What is your favorite precut to use or what do you have the most of in your stash?

I seem to be in Charm Pack hoarding mode. Regular size, Mini Size, I don't want to part with any of them.... parting means USING them.. not ready..

What is your favorite pattern in the book?

The COVER quilt!!! I've got all those MINI's and Charms.. PLUS I've never made a quilt like that one where the color is only in little squares. They sparkle like diamonds in that white setting.  I'm fascinated by it and would love to make the cover quilt.

writing it on my list.. there.. done... added to my 'need to make' list!

What quilting notion would you like to receive on your birthday? (Elizabeth and I both have April birthdays so we thought that was fun! We got the book as our present!)

I want a new studio space.. haha! I consider that a notion. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Ok .. at a minimum just bumping the room out so it's .. mmm.. double in size.. that would be just great!

Show us a FQ from your stash that you would use in the pattern "My Favorite Fat Quarter Runner."

I would use something RED!  My favorite red of the moment is the Red words in my Moda fabric line 'The Sweet Life".

Pat Sloan: A Blog 'Take Over' by the Shipping Department!

Well... Hello! It's Gregg here, better known as the 'Shipping Department'. It's just weeks prior to the spring trade show and it can be a little crazy at a Moda Designers studio. 

We 'back office types' decided to take over our designers blogs for the day.. you know.. so they can get some sewing done!

Normally I don't do any of the sewing.. well actually I NEVER do any of the sewing.

I do the shipping (thus the name), all the event planning, all the accounting, ordering, editing, cover photography, accounting, technical webwork, accounting (did I mention accounting yet?).. plus I drive the QuiltMobile and set up for events.

I really like this job!

As you might imagine, it's a little crazy a few weeks before the trade show. The Moda Designers (that would be Pat and the other fantastic group of designers at Moda) all have last minute things to do. That may include needing some fuel to keep going. 

Pat's fuel of choice... Iced or Hot Latte's. Depending on the weather. Looks like it's been warm the last few days.. what do you think?

As I mentioned, I'm really not helpful in the sewing area. One of the reasons is my favorite color... Pat just doesn't seem to understand that WHITE is really the best color there is.  

Although she DID include a WHITE Batik in her newest Moda Line called The Sweet Life .. yep I told ya it was a great color...

To be honest I can't wait to get back to my normal work life where it's not so crazy. Where i get to ship books to you (filled with quilts made of Moda fabric), put awesome Thread kits in your packages, and film the different things that need filmed. 

Rumor has it that this week more Moda Designers will have their blog taken over, or maybe their IG account....as it's... DESIGNERS IN REAL LIFE week here at ModaLand.   look for hashtag  #designersirl  

I think I need a nap now, this blog writing is hard. Glad it's not MY job
