Sometimes you need to help out a friend, know what I mean? My buddy Stephanie was destashing.. and she has ADORABLE things.. like.. REALLY adorable.. so I decided to help her out, because I'm a GREAT friend like that.. wink!
Stephanie has a GREAT eye for color combos. Look at this amazing bundle.. well it was TWO bundles, but whose counting? Let me show you what I got ... above is awesome rick rack, and a bias tape trimmed with teeny lace edge.. adorable!
And corduroy! It's not your 5 yr olds is it? yes.. that lime really that.. mmmm. LIME!
You might remember I chatted with Stephanie about working with Corduroy on 2/17/14 on my podcast (listen here). She also wrote a book (HERE) with super cute projects. This stuff is SOFT
I LOVE old buttons, vintage buttons, shiny, sparkly, old buttons. I flipped over this card to find the old metal pins holding them to the card.. cool right?
And those roses.. are.. to .. dye ... for.. seriously love here. AND guess what? it's Bark Cloth! The texture is amazing! But there's more!
The blue buildings? old Tea-towel! And the dotty navy bit? a feather soft hankie like my grandmother had.. swoon!
Now to show you what a great eye she has, I stacked the fabric with the vintage pieces and they are incredibly lovely.
and all the other bits in the bag go so well.. I can't stop playing with them!
There are a lot of strips from a project Stephanie did.. many are Denyse Schmidt fabrics. Which i love!
The last bit... a feedsack so soft you could use it for a pillow case.
Anyone know anything about this feedsack?
So what does one do when they aquire a collection like this?
- Unfold it all
- refold it all
- stack it
- Restack it
- Make groupings
- Touch all the pieces and feel how soft they are
- stack again
- take photos
- share
my brain is whirling with ideas... I do believe I'll make a quilt with all of it. Something abstract and traditional.... some blocks, some big chunks to show off the wonderful fabrics. I will add in my own fabrics too..
What do you think?
