My wonderful friend Gudrun Erla is Aurifil's January designer with the very first MINI quilt of the year! I am VERY Excited about the mini's this year!

Since this is a mini with tiny squares, I want to keep the fabric pattern tiny. You'll see that is what Gudrun did. So I looked at 2 of my red fabrics. one has a tonal design, the other the tiny dots. Pairing them with a little mini dot.
But what about these ... I cut up 1" squares from my scrap bin that were of a larger scale print to see how it looks.
It's not too bad if I keep it paired with something very tonal. Then I tried an aqua background with blue, I like it too!
My next fabric line from Moda is called 'The Sweet Life' and it will be in your favorite shops in the near future. So i looked at them thinking I might use one for this project.
Then I pulled one of the batiks from The Sweet Life to see how it looked with that tiny black dot.
