We ALL want to find great ways to quilt our own quilts. I talked to Jera Brandvig on my podcast Dec 15 about her new book (listen here)
And now I have 2 physical and 2 digital copies to giveaway from her publisher the wonderful StashBooks!
Jera explains in wonderful step outs how she handles doing Quilt as You Go. It's a super way to get started quilting your own pieces, or if you want a change of pace from handling large quilts!
I love the border section, great ideas on how to handle them.
Plus patterns! All designed to help you practice and get REALLY GOOD at quilting your own quilts.
For my 11.5 of 12 Days of Giveaways the question today is
What do you find most difficult about quilting your own quilts?

The winners have been emailed, they are.....
Linda P - I am a beginner and have yet to quilt a quilt. I have my first quilt top made, but not put together. Can't wait to finish it!
Barb - Well, for me it's the decision of how to quilt it. What pattern/ panto to use that I can do with my limited experience and it still looks good and compliments the quilt. Thanks so much!
Joan - I seem to do fairly well on a small practice sandwich, but have great difficulty maneuvering a larger quilt. The right set up I have found is so important, and by that I mean SPACE, especially getting the quilt through the area between the needle and my machine. The quilt needs to be adequately supported throughout this process as well and if not, the drag on the quilt and the consequences of such can cause great problems with your stitches and ease of movement during quilting.I use a super slider under my quilt, but still have a problem----my arthritis certainly doesn't help either and as another reader stated, I too loose my patience and end up sending it out to be done. All of our quilts are worthy of such treatment, but can become expensive in the long run. With all this said, I REALLY NEED to learn the quilt as you go method and would love the opportunity to win your 11.5 day giveaway!!!!!!!!
Beth - Right now the most difficult thing about quilting my own quilts is the terror I feel at the thought of it. I have my blocks of my first quilt all sewn up perfectly protected in my little wooden box. They are waiting for the sashing and cornerstones that will bring it all together to make them a quilt top. Then, of course, comes the dreaded, actual quilting. I have asked myself numerous times why I wasn't happy with a much smaller quilt as my first. And that really brings me to the current thinking. Once I have finished the quilt top, I believe I should spend some time making mug rugs and mini-quilts. To jump right into quilting my first quilt with zero practice just seems foolhardy. I think it would behoove me to get some working practice!
