In my on going series of Craftsy class reviews, I'm super excited to share one of my friend Kimberly Einmo's classes. Kimberly is the most amazing quilter and one of the reasons is the way she looks at things. She has a unique way of looking at fabric to create very doable quilts, that frankly look way harder than they are! Today I'm reviewing one of her earlier workshops on how to work with a Jelly roll!
Let's get to it!
You have them right, Jelly rolls. Maybe one, maybe a lot more. They are so pretty all rolled up sitting on your shelf. But you have been telling me you need some new ideas for using them. Often a jelly roll needs to be paired with other larger pieces of fabric to really get the most out of it. I highly recommend Kimberly's class to teach you how to think about your jelly rolls in a whole new light.
Kimberly and I have been friends for a long time. She is an award winning quilter and a quilt show judge. She knows how to make a technically excellent quilt and you benefit from that in this class.
If you have only taken newer classes at Craftsy you'll notice this class is set up differently. It has more parts to it and the flow is different than newer classes. All the same awesome information, just set up a bit differently.
Here is part of the class roster. Each lesson addresses a specific quilt with a million tips!
- Introduction & Supplies - Kimberly tells you excellent tips on jelly rolls and shares how to use up your stash AS a jelly roll.. yeah!
- Jacobs Ladder- tips on perfect points, which she is excellent at.
- Chain Saw - This section shows you how to add a layer cake and gives a bonus project, love those bonus projects!
- Lonestar Strip Magic- my FAVORITE quilt in this class. On my TO DO list.
- Easy charm Cathedral - a BONUS project using charm squares.
- Flying Geese - this one totally had me at jelly roll, because I could not imagine how to use a jelly roll for flying geese, but Kimberly did
The focus of this class is giving you projects that incorporate your jelly rolls. Kimberly's section on Jacobs' Ladder has a series of tips of perfect points. She doesn't win awards for nothing!
I am fascinated by Kimberly's Lonestar. She breaks down her process of taking the jelly roll and creating her Signature Star quilt. Kimberly gives you her secret method for making the Lonestar easily with NO set in seams! Plus she explains how to easily cut those diamonds that can be a wee bit scary!
Kimberly is a master at using Rulers. Each project in the class she shares exactly how she uses a ruler to help your quilt making process. She explains which lines to use and where to line them up. And one of the cool things is that most of the rulers she uses you already have!
In the Chain saw section you learn how to incorporate larger triangles with your jelly roll for a BIG impact quilt. Plus she shares several ways to quilt this piece. I love the extra tips in Kimberly's classes.
Besides all the patterns and step by step directions, you learn some machine quilting advice! Plus her bonus project uses those charm packs you have.
I am certain you are going to enjoy this and learn a whole new way to think about the jelly rolls you have. I'm excited to be sharing it with you. Once you have registered, sign up for the class and it's yours forever. Watch it over and over.. and yes.. over again!
Buy this class, you'll have fun!
I hope you take advantage of learning how use your Jelly Roll in new and amazing ways!
