In my on going series of Craftsy class reviews, I am looking for classes that build your technical tool box. I love to teach quilting and so do the people whose classes I review. Today we will look at Debbie Caffrey's class 'Cut to It, Strategies for Smarter Quilting'. Debbie has been a quilt teacher for many years and her style is very casual and friendly. This class is packed with techniques.
Let's get to it!
'Cut to It, Strategies for Smarter Quilting' is full of incredible advice. Debbie has created a series of lessons sharing techniques to make quilting faster, more accurate and she tells you how to use a lot of those rulers you already own!
THAT is worth the price of the class, I highly recommend this class to learn great shortcuts!
Here is part of the class roster. Each lesson addresses a specific quilt with a million tips!
- Introduction - I think the best part of this is Cutting Strips efficiently. Who doesn't want to make the most of their fabric?
- Striply Speaking- Here Debbie goes over Triangle tools and has an incredible booklet of charts to make working with triangles easier!
- Working on your Traps - Debbie walks you through the set of trapezoid shapes and makes using your rulers so EASY... fun stuff!
- Shape Up your Fat Quarters- We own them, we love them, we buy them.. now learn to us use every bit of them!
- Delectable Mountain- A long time favorite of mine, learn the easy way to make this quilt.
- It's Hip to be Square - Debbie has a super nifty trick for taking LARGE HST units and cutting them up.. this is SO COOL!
The one part I love about this class is that all through it, Debbie shares how to use rulers to make your quilting easier and faster. Knowing the correct way to use a ruler takes all the guess work out of it!
Hands down these short cuts for creating stunning quilts is well worth this class. I am now going to be looking at my fabric with a WHOLE NEW eye!
And remember that chart booklet I mentioned earlier.. it's 15 pages of charts that are so handy.
I think my favorite section is the one on using fat quarters effectively. We love collecting them as they are so tempting.. not much money and we have a whole lot of variety of fabric.
The Fat Quarter cut correctly makes awesome scrap quilts. You will love this section! So remember......
I Know you will learn a LOT in this class
I hope you take advantage of learning shortcuts with Debbie Caffrey!
