Progress was made yesterday on my Birthday Quilt! If you missed what it's about, I asked people to send me blocks last year at this time and I'm setting them into a birthday quilt for myself.. fun fun fun! You all out did yourselves and the quilt is coming together so fantastic.
Below are some close ups and a photo of the top so far. If you are reading this via my Blog update email, click the banner in the email to come right to my site!
First up ...
This super sweet little surprise I found when piecing the blocks! Jan A told me that is her 'mitten' block and that is the part of the Mitten state where she lives!
This block makes me smile! It is SUCH a happy block, the whole quilt is happy!
The red fabrics for the bird are MY fabric lines! I love that so many of you used my red, grey, and aqua fabrics in your blocks
Look at that SMOOCH!!
The Yo-Yo is a gift from my friend Michele for being part of her book. You can listen to my chat with Michele here .. click the player for Nov 3, 2014
I just love this star blocks. I need to make more star quilts, I'm convinced!
Here are the blocks around the star.. fun fun fun setting this!
Even a block that is me! Sorry it's blurry.. will take better pics later!
And the top so far!
It's about 102 x 84 at this point. I'm going to add another section on the bottom.
If you click the photo you will go to my flickr page to see a slightly larger image.
Let's see what I have left to work with....
I sorted some of the blocks by size so i could easily pick up blocks for the strip I'm adding.
Here is one section. Now I'll cut spacers and sew it up!
The back will also have a ton of blocks. It's going to be SO FUN to lay that out next!
Have you ever done a quilt like this?
