When you see some people's quilts you just want to see more and more. I feel that way about my friend Sherri McConnell. I love the fabrics she puts together, and i wish she posted quilts and parts of quilts multiple times a day.. can you see her rolling her eyes now? Plus Sherri's site has THE perfect name "A Quilting Life"

Although I have many favorite quilts, this one is the one I'm sharing because my great great grandmother made a similar quilt in Iowa in the 1930's. While her quilt was pieced with left-overs from her favorite dresses and aprons, mine is pieced with some of my favorite Amy Butler prints. I think it's especially fun that some of my great-great grandmother's fabric choices are ones I would choose today: big polka dots and fun floral prints with a touch of whimsy.
I have both quilts at my home, and I thank my stars every day that this wonderful woman was a quilter and that she was able to pass her love of this art to my grandmother who was able to share with me.
