I LOVE a blog hop!! Jane invited a very talented group of friends to make a block from her Nested Churn dash and share it during the hop, so exciting!
I think you are going to find that ALL of us adore Jane's large quilt, so far she is not parting with it.. pity as I've claimed first rights... you know.. because I said it first.. wink!
So Let's get to it...
I so dearly wanted to make this a full size quilt.. you can read that Carrie DID.. I'm so jealous!! I waffled back .. and forth.. and back... and forth. But finally decided to have a FINISHED piece NOW. I'm rather pleased I did, but still want to make the full size.
Do you remember my fabric picking post HERE?
I want to show you how precious the center block is...
Adorable right? It's like kittens or puppies.. you want more! Like a WHOLE quilt of them... good gosh did I say that outloud?
If you are not up to teenie tiny precious quilts... trade that baby out for a piece of fabric
Still makes a totally awesome quilt.. but without the ripping and colorful language the small one might produce.. not saying that happened to ME or anything.. ok.. moving right along
The focus fabrics in my quilt are from Cosmo Cricket's line 2wenty-thr3e and I adore everything about it. This print .. yes... print.. is part of the collection. I took the 1/2 yd I had and pieced it together ... do you see the center horizontal strip? Closer look coming up!
I'm starting to incorporate the selvage into the backing or label so I remember the fabric lines of the prints that everyone is going to ask me about.. only took 20 yrs to think that gem up...
onto the quilting! I am pin basting with my Kuick Klip. I have a youtube video on that
and you can buy a clip at my amazon Kwik Klips - A Tool for Pin Basting Quilt Layers
Now onto thread! I got out my box of Aurifil 50 wt orange and yellow threads. I decided to go lighter instead of darker. mmm.. Alex I think we need more shades of Orange and yellow.. my box isn't quite full.
Here is the lucky winner! Pull a single strand across the top to audition it.
My original plan was to do a crop circle on this quilt.. because I've not done that yet! But I know they take a bit of time. So instead I set stitch '99' on my Janome 8900 and did an edge to edge wave. This quilt only took 45 minutes to have it done.. yeah baby!
Have you done a wavy stitch? I know a lot of you are just learning to quilt your own quilts, this is a super fun option to get you started.
