Fabric 101 is my ongoing series of Fabric Inspirations. Today is brought to you by the Garden Gnome. Yep... really!
I was in Target in the garden section looking for something else entirely... when I noticed this army of aqua Garden Gnomes. I'm not a Gnome person, but the color of these glazed gnomes is amazing. It matches some pieces in my studio.
It was a wee bit sad to see them all discounted with no home... i snapped a photo and didn't buy one.. but might STILL go back to get one.. thinking on this..
It's so fun to translate that color into a quilt
First I went all aqua
With some touches of green. Green for that backdrop and green for the yard.
The 2 dottie aquas are my fabric lines.
The others are ones from my stash.. the stripe might just be a hoarded piece..
....not saying for sure.
Then I looked around and found some other more obvious green with Brown. That brown, green, cream and aqua stripe has been in my collection awhile and I love it.. i'm saving it for JUST the right project.
should I do a Gnome Inspired quilt? mmmmm
One more set.. found this very old Anna Marie Horner floral. Deep chocolate for the earth, aqua and green. switch out to a slightly darker green..
why yes.. it is a zebra print.. thanks for noticing!
I Actually wrote a WHOLE BOOK on how to take a photo and turn it into a quilt
CLICK HERE for my book.. I'll sign it!
Which color option do you like?
Have you take a photo and found fabric to match?
oh... and should I go back and get a Gnome?
