So I got to thinking.... we have scraps... we ALL have scraps. I'm cutting mine into 2", 2.5", 3.5" and 5". Plus 2.5" x WOF strips. That means my leftover layer cake (four 5" sq), my leftover charm pack squares, and my extra jelly roll strips are added to what I'm cutting from my smaller bits and pieces in my stash.
Looking around my studio I spotted a partial charm pack and thought... what if each month I make up a small quilt. Maybe it becomes a bigger quilt, maybe not. But each month I take a new block and make scrap blocks.
And make it scrappy.. either VERY scrappy .. or controlled scrappy..
And make it EASY and FUN to piece
First select fabric -
I worked primarily with this fabric... White with black dots, a black with white polka dots..
Looking around.. I spotted this French General charm pack, mini (2.5" sq) pack, and some left overs from a fat 1/8th bundle. Perfect to pair with a charm pack of Bella Solids
it would make a great option!
Then I went into my cut scraps to pick a controlled selection. This Aqua Bella Solid is my background. I pulled out the Red and pinks scraps in 5" squares and 2.5" squares.
Are you ready for the block?
